Do not be confused by his quiet demeanor or elegant style – Nathan Yellow Jones has a bitch-slap hand.
The more you examine his art and his appearance, the more it makes sense. This man is not here to play. Whether through his sensual paintings, his intricate collage portraits, or his timeless yet eclectic manner of dress, this gentleman artist leaves a lasting impression.
An interview with Nathan Yellow Jones:
What various things inspire your personal style? How would you describe it?
I would say my style is tailored and curated. I’m primarily inspired by basic things such as my mood, where I’m going, what the weather will be like, and what fits. I may have a favorite shirt or pair of pants in mind and go from there.
How did you dress as a child?
T-shirts, jeans, shorts. We didn’t have much money so I had nothing expensive, nice, or fancy. I did have a favorite yellow shirt with a glittery heat transfer on it, and I did enjoy color even way back then.
Any style icons?
Alexander McQueen and Iris Apfel. I adore high fashion because it is literally a work of art – using fashion as a medium to paint an image of how you want the world to perceive you.
Favorite items in your wardrobe?
My accessories. More specifically, my shoes. I love them all. After shoes would be scarves, jewelry, blazers, and jackets.
What would you tell someone who wants to develop their own style?
Look around and find the pieces that speak to you. Start with a few nice basics. From there, you can mix and match and create different looks. Don’t be afraid of color and definitely play with patterns! Most of all, be comfortable and confident in whatever you decide.
