I’m not comfortable photographing people. At least, not as comfortable as I could be. It involves a lot of direction, posing, and lighting. Things never work out perfectly, and plans/ideas change constantly. Shooting one subject is stressful, so the idea of photographing a group was quite daunting. Lighting in the “jam space” and elsewhere downtown proved challenging. There were lens and angle limitations, lots of posing, and much directing. Yet, this ended up being my favorite shoot so far. These folks were patient, kind, and loads of fun to work with. I thoroughly enjoyed taking their band photos, and it served to make me just a little bit braver in exploring the world of portrait photography.
