Artists Peter Nguyen and Stephen Rousset share a painting studio space at TASI. It seems suitable that they share a show. The two artists are quite prolific and seem to greatly benefit from the camaraderie a shared space can create.
Peter Nguyen has been painting for seven years and drawing off and on since grade school. He primarily uses charcoal, acrylics, and oils in his work. He is inspired by portraits and realistic displays of art. A self driven learner, Nguyen has studied old masters, such as Rembrant which he higly admires. Contemporary artists Peter is inspired by include Cesar Santo, Andrew Tischler and Voka. Peter is a highly sought portrait painter. He has been a TASI tenant for two years.
Stephen Edward Rousset has been working on his fine art practice for about five years, four of which he has been a TASI tenant. Roussett expresses his ideas through symbolism and surrealism. He’s not afraid to take on tricky subjects like religion or race issues. Rousset works in a variety of mediums including painting and sculpture. He has worked steadily through the pandemic and was featured in U.S. News and World Report in April 2020.
An opening reception for “IYKYK“ will be held during TASI’s First Thursday festivities on March 3 from 5 to 8pm, free and open to the public.
