MIST: Out Of Orbit

Out of Orbit

By Amy Bradberry

Orbitr, a local SETX band, is releasing a trifecta of albums Summer 2021 which consists of Elysium, Into Darkness, and Constellations of Dust. The band was established in 2017 when Ellison Beezley (acoustic guitar, vocals) asked for a recommendation for a local drummer. An anonymous Reddit user recommended Curtis Adams. After a few jam sessions Brian Johnson became a member of the band as a keyboardist, but eventually transitioned to bass. A Facebook inquiry resulted in Eddie Garcia becoming the lead guitarist and final member of the band.

Orbitr’s sound is a commingling of progressive vocals, aggressive drum beats, melodic basslines, and groovy rhythmic guitar riffs. According to Beezley and Adams, the compositions are the result of a symbiotic relationship among the members throughout the creation process. The first album, Elysium, has an upbeat and bright tone with a theme of love and loss.  The second component of the trifecta, Into Darkness, transitions the sound from the lighthearted feel of the first album to a harder heavier sound, with a theme of change and consequences. The third album, Constellations of Dust, is the hardest of the albums and has a syncopated off-beat tone with a theme of chaos and randomness. The albums will be accompanied by an original concept story that follows various characters throughout a space exploration.

Orbitr is planning an album release party for the Summer/Fall of 2021. For more details regarding the album release, future live shows, website launch, and how to obtain merchandise follow Orbitr on Facebook and Instagram.
