Born and raised in Port Arthur, Texas. Currently living in Montgomery, Texas
Received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Lamar University 2009. Emphasis on drawing.
I will be showing a body of work titled Lunatic Fringe.
I would describe my work as Neo-Expressionist using a multitude of media.
My biggest influence is the work of Jean-Michel Basquiat and Cy Twombly.
I would like people to take away the idea that it is possible to get inner demons out onto paper
without doing harm to others.
Artist Statement
In this body of work I explore inner demons that have haunted me for a long time. I work
primarily on torn brown paper to take away the “preciousness” of the work. My work is raw and
immediate with very little planning or forethought. Lunatic Fringe is a collection of pieces that I
created during a very dark period in my life. The loosely drawn characters are meant to be as
uncomfortable to look at as they were to create. I write in runes to add a layer of privacy for my
thoughts and to create a degree of curiosity about hidden messages.
