Adaptive Art Class!

We are so excited for this brand new class offered by The Art Studio, Inc! Join instructor Karey Richard for an inclusive art lesson for all ages 8 and up! Participate in adaptive art projects that anyone can enjoy, created especially for budding artists with special needs, and their siblings!

Friday, April 28, 6-8pm

$20 per participant

All students must be accompanied by a parent or guardian for the duration of the class.
Materials provided.
Please contact us to prepare for any specific needs or adaptive tools that would be helpful. Drop-ins welcome as space allows.


Learn all the basics of painting from still life as well as color theory and everything in between. This two-day class is designed for beginners in the art of painting, ages 18 and up. Students will be practicing with acrylics on paper and canvas. Your instructor Virginia Johnson earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Lamar University and is excited to teach art skills to new students!

Over the course of six sessions, students will learn handbuilding techniques in clay, as well as glazing and raku firing, from an expert ceramist. Take home your very own ceramic creations at the end of the course! This class is for adults age 18+ only. All materials provided.

Collage Classes

Learn and experiment with the art of collage taught by Grace Mathis! This class is for all levels of artists, perfect for beginners, starting at age ten. All materials will be provided. Students may also bring additional materials from home to further personalize their creations! (Old photos, magazines, newspapers, scrap paper, ribbon, lace, fabric scraps, wrapping paper, wallpaper, swatches, old greeting cards, stickers, stamps, and other sundries).

Learn the basics of painting with watercolor, including color theory and technique. This three-hour class session is designed for beginners in the art of watercolor, ages 18 and up. Interested in learning the art of drawing, but don’t know where to start? This is the class for you! Sign up for this class to learn the basics and sharpen your drawing skills!

Artist Sheila Busceme will teach the students all of the techniques and theory to draw from still life. The class will meet on four consecutive Saturdays to continue lessons and practice their work. Adults and teens ages 13+

Learn how to throw on the pottery wheel from an experienced artist! Two three-hours sessions in the clay studio will offer demonstrations of technique, familiarity with commonly used tools, and time to begin practicing newfound skills. Hand-building classes or some prior clay experience is recommended before taking this class! Ages 18+ only.
