ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Julie Lee:
“I have collected and accumulated materials for all my life. As I wander, I recognize what is meant for me and I keep it until I understand it’s purpose. I use vintage and natural materials. I turn them into objects that become part of my natural world. These objects provide protection, vision, wonder and magic to me. I am showing them to you.
I have a degree in Biology from Lamar University. I worked as an inspector for local and state government agencies for 42 years, retiring in February 2024. I am a self-taught artist. I have taken workshops in indigo dying, blacksmithing, foundry, hand building clay, printmaking, woodworking and building.
I have participated in local and regional art shows in Southeast Texas.”

Emily Lewis is from Vidor, Texas and graduated from Lamar University Cum Laude in 2021 with a BFA in drawing.
Lewis is inspired by the relationship digital art and traditional media share, often combining the two media into unique series that convey complex themes and symbolism.
She is inspired by Romanticism, German Expressionism and Fantasy. The artist understands that environments and landscapes are just as complex as the human psyche. Lewis transforms locations around the world into other worldly atmospheres.
”What would happen if New York was an ice planet or if Paris was a dystopian country? Questions like this are where I get inspiration. Seeing the world with a twist or a different perspective creates interesting possibilities.”
