At our inception, we felt there had to be a community outreach arm of the organization. With that in mind, our mission statement demands that we foster a tie with the artists and this community. Our engagement works in many ways. We hold classes in a variety of disciplines including printmaking, ceramics, watercolor, color theory, drawing, and photography, as well as programs tailored to people with special needs. Art therapy has become a new avenue toward improving the health of people in our community and we are working with mental health professionals to provide fun and entertaining programs with a deeper purpose of improving the hearts and minds of that unique community.
“My biggest hope for each work I do is to have it pull on the hearts of the person looking at it; to evoke their emotions in the deepest ways and have them see the beauty in things they never knew was there. To feel the love that I put into each piece.”
The Art Studio is working with our local community mental health providers to promote health, healing and wellness through artistic self-expression. Individuals of all ages, education, and walks of life are called to participate in our second annual “The Art of Mental Health” art exhibition. The theme will focus on the artists’ personal experience with mental wellness and using art as a healthy way to cope.
FRESH ARTISTS MADE DAILY!
Sign up now for one of our upcoming classes for teens and adults. All classes are appropriate for beginner-level artists with no prior experience, and all necessary materials will be provided for use in the classroom!
The Art Studio Inc. brings on another fresh lineup of LIVE ORIGINAL MUSIC on the last Saturday of each month! Come dressed in your boots and cowboy hats – the theme for the March show is HOEDOWN!
*The theme does not necessarily reflect the genres of music that will be featured, see lineup!*
The elements of design, balance, color, composition, and style all come into play when there is a competition for limited gallery space. Additionally, acceptance into the exhibition provides exposure and possible purchases of your work. Exhibitions are a big part of an artist’s resume and competing in shows gives an artist credibility and puts their work in front of the public.
We are looking for artists and makers in the SETX region to participate in a new event called “Look What I Can Do”! It will be a live interactive art demonstration festival where participating artists will interact and demonstrate their process to the public. This is a free event for artists to market themselves to the community and have a chance interact with other artists as well. We are looking for artists of all mediums and styles. This opportunity is available to any artists, artisans, craftspeople, or local organizations!
“We will continue to push, prod, inspire, and cajole you to find what your hands heart and mind want to express. These events and events at all the arts organizations in our community have something for you.”
I would say my art is close to “Fauvism” style; vivid colors and simplified subjects. I paint on canvas, material, metal, and wood wood with acrylics. This show, I do have some sea glass with epoxy pieces. I have a wide range of subjects I like to paint, but ocean animals are my favorite. While making no attempt to illustrate actual sea life in my painting, I want my creations to look alive. Living with beautiful works of art, reminds us to slow down and reconnect with nature, even if it’s just for a moment.
