CALL FOR ARTISTS – “Look What I Can Do” art demo fest set for March 29!

a festival of interactive art demonstrations

Saturday, March 29th
12 pm-6 pm

at The Art Studio, Inc.
720 Franklin St. in Beaumont, TX.

We are looking for artists and makers in the SETX region to participate in an event called “Look What I Can Do”! It will be a live interactive art demonstration festival where artists will be required to interact and demonstrate their process to the public. This is a free event for artists to market themselves to the community and have a chance interact with other artists as well. We are looking for artists of all mediums and styles.

Please apply by February 28th and if you are selected, we will contact you by March 7th to confirm. Participation is free, but we will ask that all participating artists are current TASI members ($35 for a 12-month membership).

The Art Studio, Inc. is producing a live demonstration festival where artists will be expected to show their artistic processes. This means that you can bring your supplies and have demonstrations set up! You can show the patrons your process and even have them participate!  If you will not be demoing please have finished artwork present and talk with the patrons about the process of making it. We are accepting all mediums of art including but not limited to painting, drawing, fiber, dance, song, spoken-word, photography, clay, sculpture, wood, collage, printmaking, mixed-media, or anything else you can think of!

This opportunity is available to any artists, artisans, craftspeople, or local organizations! No mass-produced products, multi-level marketing distributors, retail, or resale merchandise is allowed at this event. You are also allowed to sell your art at this event, but remember that the main purpose is to interact with the patrons and teach them about your process.

Spaces are limited! We will contact you to confirm your acceptance by March 7th. In order to participate in this event, your TASI membership must be up to date. Membership is $35 and is good for 12 months. Artists who apply but are not selected will be kept on a waitlist in case of cancellation and may be contacted as soon as a spot becomes available.

TASI will determine placements of each artist; artists will be allotted space based on their needs. Most spaces will be set up in TASI’s Main Gallery. This area is indoors, but not climate controlled. Some spaces may include a portion of gallery wall to hang or mount items. Some space may have access to electrical outlets. Some spaces may be assigned to the Maudee Carron Gallery, the classroom, the porch, the clay space, and the back lot, depending on weather and number of participants.

Artists will be completely responsible for their set-up including chairs, table, demo supplies, displays, signage, and payment processing (if you’re selling). You will be required to have business cards, handouts, or signage at your booth with contact information on it as this is a networking event!
